Dear Phantoms Members,

 

Diamond Valley Basketball Association has confirmed that the Under 8's domestic competition will move to Sundays, starting from the Autumn 2027 season.

 

This decision follows the formal club consultation undertaken this year, and a detailed review of the pressures affecting the whole Junior Domestic competition, including court capacity, venue disruptions and scheduling requirements.

 

The change will create a calmer, safer and more development-focused environment for beginner players, with stronger referee support, coach education and more consistent scheduling.

 

It will also improve Saturday scheduling across the wider junior competition. Under 8's currently account for approximately 40–50 games each week. Moving these games to Sundays will provide greater flexibility when venues are unavailable, create more consistent game blocks and help reduce late games for older age groups.

 

Exact venues, game times and the final competition format will be confirmed by DVBA in the coming months. Their current planning objective is a condensed and consistent Sunday window, likely between 11.00am and 3.00pm; however, these times remain indicative.
