NEW COMPETITION RULES

Dear Members,

We are writing to provide an update regarding Autumn 2027 registrations and several changes introduced by Diamond Valley Basketball Association.

Junior Domestic Transfers

DVBA has introduced a new transfer process for Autumn 2027. As of next season, the association has placed caps on Inbound Transfers to our club.

• U8 and U10 combined: Two incoming players per gender.
• U12 and U14 combined: Two incoming players per gender.
• U16 and U18 combined: Six incoming players per gender.

The transfer period will run from the 7th November to 13th December 2026. Any player wishing to transfer to another Junior Domestic club must submit a DVBA transfer request during this period.

Transfers submitted after 13th December will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Please note that submitting a transfer request does not guarantee a position at the requested club or in a particular team. Further information will be provided as DVBA releases additional details.

You can see Diamond Valley's full announcement on these changes though this link

Registration Closing Date

As a result of the new transfer process, our registration period has also been adjusted as our coordinators now need additional time to figure out transfers.

Autumn 2027 registrations will now close on the 12th December, 2026.

We encourage all families to take note of this date and ensure registrations are completed before the closing deadline.

DVBA Player Levy

From Autumn 2027, DVBA will introduce a $7.50 + GST Player Levy per participant, per season. This will appear as a separate DVBA charge during registration.

DVBA has advised that the levy will assist with the increasing costs associated with child safety, member protection, behavioural management, court hire and general administration.

Scoresheet fees will remain unchanged throughout 2027.

Other Competition Changes

DVBA has also advised of changes to the Junior Domestic competition rules for Autumn 2027. The clock will now stop when the margin reaches 15 points or more, rather than 20 points or more. Also in U10–U16, players who have participated in representative basketball within the previous 12 months will be ineligible to play in the lowest grade of their allocated age group.
